Frequently Asked Questions

We at LifeCould believe everyone needs one centralized and secure location for all of your life information so that your loved ones can access this information when you pass. It takes loved ones weeks and months to sift through someone’s papers, laptop, and phone to settle a person’s estate. It’s an incredibly daunting process and LifeCloud wants to help make that process seamless.

LifeCloud is founded by MIT graduates who engineered financial wealth systems for most of their careers. LifeCloud designed a new security paradigm that is so secure not even these engineers can see your data. Besides your username and password you create a LifeCloud Secret that is a passphrase that only you know. Without that secret no one can access your data.

You can invite whoever you want to be a member of your LifeCloud circle. You decide what these people get to see now, which could be nothing, and what they get to see when you pass. Each person needs to create their own LifeCloud Secret, which is different from yours, to dutifully register with LifeCloud. An invitation secret, a phrase you create, needs to be passed from you to your invited member in order for that person to gain access to your LifeCloud. Again, without that invitation secret, which is different than you and their LifeCloud secrets, there is no way for anyone else to access your data.

When you invite a person into your circle you decide their current access level or role. The role is a hierarchy of Owner, Partner, Observer, and Member. If the Owner passes the Partner or Partners are promoted to Owner who can then decide the access for the other circle members. In order for LifeCloud to know you have passed at least two members, who by definition are authenticated and people you trust, have to affirm that event. And of course we’ll reach out to you first to make sure you can’t respond.

You can create a LifeCloud for yourself with one set of people and be a member of another LifeCloud for an aging parent that you might share ownership with your siblings.

Currently, LifeCloud does not support the creation of digital Life Documents. However, there are online document creation services available, such as Rocket Lawyer, Trust & Will, and Legal Zoom.
